Passwords Dos and Donts explains the College’s new Password Policy.
If you can’t remember your password or it isn’t working, come to the ITS Office with your Student ID card to get it reset. It is your responsibility to keep your password safe and not share it with anyone else.
Your password expires every 380 days. You will receive warnings that this is going to happen, every time you log in for up to 21 days before the expiry date. If you ignore this message, you will eventually be locked out of the system. To prevent this from happening, change your password when you have the chance.
Don’t let your password expire. If you are asked to change your password, do so straight away. If you don’t, you may risk having your account disabled and then waste valuable time getting it re-instated. You will also be locked out of Moodle, Proportal and your college email.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters and should consist of a mixture of lower and upper case letters and numbers.
After you have typed your new password into the box Enter New Password, you must enter it a second time in the box Confirm New Password. If there is any difference between the entries the computer will ask you to enter and re-enter your new password again, so watch the screen prompts carefully.
When you have done all of the above, click OK. Your new password for the network and Moodle will take effect immediately.
How to avoid common computer problems
